A company employee in Samoa wants security guards to be armed after one of their night watchmen was attacked and knocked unconscious by thieves.
The security guard was attacked the Lotopa branch of at Frankie's Wholesalers, - which was robbed at gun point several years ago.
But the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Leaupepe Fatu Pula, told the Samoa Observer that arming security guards was not the answer.
He said the best option was for security guards to carry mobile phones in order to contact the police.
The police in Samoa do not carry firearms.
