Death of man found in car on Raglan street treated as homicide

The death of a man whose body was found in a parked car in Raglan is being treated as a homicide.

In a statement, police said local residents found 42-year-old Jade Pui, also known as Jade Pui-Rakena, in his vehicle on 26 January.

Police said Pui was from Auckland but was staying in the seaside town.

Anyone who has dashcam footage while driving through Wainui Road, between Raglan and Manui Bay boat ramp, from 5pm onwards on Tuesday, 25 January is being asked to contact police.

Police are also seeking any sightings of a white Mitsubishi Legnum (pictured, not actual vehicle) or any other suspicious vehicles or motorbikes seen in the area over that time.

Detective Inspector Graham Pitkethley thanked Raglan residents who had already come forward with information.

"While we understand that these incidents can be stressful, please be reassured that we will hold any offenders to account."

Police said they would have an increased presence in the town as they try to establish the circumstances that lead to Pui's death.
