Fonterra has a new farmer director.
Michael Spaans was elected along with two sitting directors, Malcolm Bailey and Ian Farrelly, in just completed board elections.
Two other candidates, Eric Ray and Donna Smit, missed out.
Mr Spaans, a dairy farmer from Te Aroha, is a former Fonterra Shareholders Council member and is also a director of Dairy New Zealand.
There are also eight new members on the Shareholders Council.
They will take office at the end of Fonterra's annual general meeting in Southland on Wednesday.
