Samoa's Ministry of Police and Prisons will be getting assistance from United Nations forces at the Small Islands Developing States Conference in September.
UN police will be responsible for security inside the conference venues.
The UN's Under Secretary General for Economics and Social Affairs, Wu Hongbo, is in Apia with a team of eleven senior UN Secretariat members and he says the assistance is in addition to help from Australia and New Zealand.
He says both the Samoa government and the UN are confident of a safe meeting.
Samoa's Prime Minister, Tuila'epa Sa'ilele Malielegaoi, says the conference will cost around 20 million US dollars.
