Police want information about an altercation in Te Atatu in West Auckland overnight that left a man with critical injuries.

At about 3.50am two men were reportedly seen breaking into a van at the back of an address on Te Atatu Road, police said.
An altercation erupted between the owner of the van and one of the alleged offenders, who lost consciousness and was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
The owner of the van was also taken to hospital, but has since been released.
The second person who is accused of trying to break into the van fled the scene. Police would like to speak to the person who fled and anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area.
No one else is being sought by police.
