A state abuse survivor and experienced social worker says a newly appointed advisory board at Oranga Tamariki is a missed opportunity.

The four-strong board will make its recommendations to the Minister for Children, Kelvin Davis, by the end of June.

The chair is Maori Council national executive member, Matthew Tukaki, the other members are Dame Naida Glavish, Ta Mark Solomon and Shannon Pakura.
