The Northern Marianas House of Representatives has adopted a resolution that calls for an immediate de-escalation and ceasefire in Gaza.
The death toll in Gaza has now risen to 21-thousand-320, nearly 1 percent of the total population.
One of the organizers of the Marianas for Palestine in Guam, Monica Flores, attended the House session and described the resolution as a historic moment for the CNMI as it is among the first of the US territories to call for such a ceasefire.
The CNMI resolution states that it also supports a call by other cities for US Congress members to support a US Congress resolution, demanding an immediate ceasefire.
The resolution also calls for the release of all hostages; the unrestricted entry of humanitarian assistance into Gaza; the restoration of food, water, electricity, and medical supplies to Gaza; respect for international law; and calls for a resolution that protects the security of all innocent civilians.
