The identity of a man seen to fall into the Waikato River in Hamilton early on Sunday morning is still unknown.
The man, thought to be in his late teens or early 20s, was reported to have climbed on to the Victoria Bridge barrier and fallen into the water.
Police in Hamilton spent most of Sunday searching the river on foot and by search and rescue boat.
The Wellington based dive squad seached the river from 4pm on Sunday, and a police boat was out on the water on Monday.
The man is described as dark skinned and wearing what appeared to be black dress pants and a dark coloured shirt.
Detective Sergeant Robert Isaac said police are still no closer to identifying the man.
Police say they cannot rule out the possibility that the man may have survived the fall into the river and if so, they are keen to hear that he is alright.
