"I've always felt that anyone in the media should be ready to lose their job at any moment and not hold a grudge."

Some of RNZ's big names come out from behind the microphone to talk about their upbringing and careers in Behind the Mic, a series of video interviews.

In this episode, RNZ Afternoons host Jesse Mulligan is interviewed by RNZ community engagement editor Leilani Momoisea.

Jesse talks about being ready to lose his job at any moment, how adversity can lead to success and his philosophical approach of saying yes to the things that scare you, and figuring it out later.

They also discuss his short-lived dreams of being a wrestler and why musicians have tended to feature in his most disastrous interviews.

More interviews and other summer content can be found here on RNZ's newly launched Summer 2020 site.
