The prime minister of Papua New Guinea, Peter O'Neill, arrives in Wellington today for talks with his New Zealand counterpart, John Key.
Mr Key says New Zealand shares a close relationship with PNG and wants to develop this further.
He says as part of efforts to foster greater business ties a double tax agreement, which ensures companies are not taxed in both jurisdictions, is going through its final ratification process.
The three-day visit will include the official opening of the refurbished PNG High Commission in Wellington.
The PNG agriculture minister, Tommy Tomscoll, will accompany Mr O'Neill.
