A man was injured with a machete in a Hamilton robbery this afternoon, police said.
Three men reportedly entered a Heaphy Terrace business about 2pm Saturday armed with a machete and assaulted the man, wounding his shoulder.
The offenders fled the scene in a vehicle, and the victim was taken to hospital and is now in a moderate condition, police said.
"This type of violent incident is unacceptable," Hamilton City Area Commander Inspector Andrea McBeth said in a statement.
"We are now working hard to identify and locate those involved so we can hold them accountable."
"We have received several eye witness accounts as well as footage, all of which will be extremely useful in our investigation.
"While we want to remind people never to put themselves in harm's way, we always encourage witnesses to come forward, and we greatly appreciate the assistance today."
Police said witnesses can give information by calling 105 and quoting event number P053535896 or anyonymously at Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
