South Africa too strong for White Ferns

South Africa has won the one day series after beating the White Ferns by seven wickets in the second game in Pietermaritzburg.

After being put into bat New Zealand were bowled out for 253 in the last over.

Opener Amelia Kerr top scored with 88, while Maddy Green made 43 and Hannah Rowe 40.

Nadine de Klerk and Nonkululeko Miaba took three wickets each.

In reply the homeside cruised to their target in the 46th over with opener Laura Wolvaardt hitting an unbeaten 124.

The White Ferns tried eight bowlers with little success although Lea Tahuhu picked up two wickets.

South Africa won the opening game by four wickets.

This series is a part of the Women's Championship which carrys points towards qualification for the next World Cup.

South Africa are now second in the standings and New Zealand seventh.

The third game is in Durban on Sunday.

The two sides then play five T20 internationals.
