Covid-19 update: 20,802 new cases, 322 in hospital

There are 20,802 new cases of Covid-19 in the community and a further 41 deaths this week, the Ministry of Health has announced.

Of the community cases announced today, 3173 were reinfections.

The seven-day rolling average of community cases is 2967- last Monday it was 2926.

As of midnight on Sunday, there were 322 people in hospital with the virus, including eight in intensive care.

Of the the 41 deaths, 13 have been attributed to Covid-19. For the other 28, the cause was not available.

Of the 41, one was in their 40s, one was in their 50s, three were in their 60s, seven were in their 70s, 15 were in their 80s and 14 were aged over 90, the ministry said.

Of these people, 22 were women and 19 were men.

Today's figure - covering the period from 31 October to 6 November - compared with 20,522 new cases, 18 deaths and 323 people in hospital, eight of them in intensive care announced a week ago.
