Farming products and equipment manufacturer Gallagher Group has bought an Australian gate and livestock handling equipment business as part of its international expansion plans.
Gallagher did not disclose the price it paid for Australia's Norton Livestock Handling Solutions which offered Australian-made sheep and cattle handling equipment, farm gates, and sheep and cattle yards.
"With control of the product design and manufacturing processes in New Zealand and Australia, Gallagher was less impacted by Covid-19 lock downs than those businesses that rely on imported components and offshore manufacturing," global general manager for Gallagher Animal Management Lisbeth Jacobs said.
"As a result, we have been able to capture additional market-share."
Norton's Australasian operations would help support growing demand for animal handling solutions, she said.
Norton currently held a strong market position in the South Eastern Australia region and had worked with Gallagher over the past two decades.
