One person has died in the third fatal crash and fourth road death in the Waikato region today.

Police said the person died after their car hit a power pole around 7:15pm near Pipiroa, at the base of the Firth of Thames.
The portion of State Highway 25 is closed.
Just before 6pm two people died in a crash between a truck and car near Cambridge just south of Hamilton, and another was seriously hurt.
One person died this morning in a crash in Tahuna, also in Waikato, and four other people were injured.
