Two people jailed over the killing of Rotorua toddler Nia Glassie have appealed against their convictions.

Following a trial in the High Court in Rotorua earlier this year, the girl's mother Lisa Kuka was found guilty of manslaughter and jailed for nine years.

Her former partner, Wiremu Curtis, was found guilty of murdering Nia Glassie and sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum non-parole period of 17-and-a-half years.

Kuka is appealing against both her conviction and sentence.

Curtis's appeal is just against his conviction.

The Court of Appeal is likely to reserve its decision.
