The New Zealand sevens coach Sir Gordon Tietjens admits to being surprised by Jarryd Hayne's decision to give sevens a go.
The former NRL rugby league star quit the NFL in the United Stater earlier this week to join up with the Fiji sevens side in the hope of making the Rio Olympics.

He will find out tonight whether he's made Fiji's 12-man squad for the World Series finale in London.

Tietjens said Hayne would probably have to play this weekend to be considered a chance for Rio but admitted, with just a couple of days training under his belt, it could be tough.
"It came all of a sudden - I mean I was really surprised when I first heard it just this week. It's a challenging sport and for someone to come out of American football, who's a fine league player - fine athlete - to adjust to the game of sevens in the short space of time, which will be two and a half months away from the Olympics, that'll be a massive story wouldn't it? Whether he can make it I don't know. If he plays this weekend then we will certainly know."

Sir Gordon Tietjens said it's been an extremely competitive World Series but he believes Fiji have been consistently the best team and deserve to win the overall title.
