The Hurricanes have posted a shock 29-26 win over the Crusaders in Christchurch.

The home side were outscored three tries to four, spoiling captain Kieran Read's 100th game for the franchise.

An ankle injury forced Read from the field in the first half with his side down 17-3, before the Crusaders launched a fight back to lead 18-17 at the break.

The lead see-sawed in the second half before the Hurricanes' Samoan International, Alapati Leiua, scored a thrilling individual try to seal the victory seven minutes from time.

The Melbourne Rebels also logged an unlikely Super Rugby victory, beating the Australian conference leaders the Brumbies 32-24..
