Weather stops play at Australian amateur golf champs

06:41 am on 23 March 2010

Inclement weather has slowed the progress of the New Zealand golfers during the second round of matchplay at the Australian Amateur Championships in Perth.

Women's strokeplay champion Cecilia Cho of Auckland, Ben Campbell of Masterton and Andrew Stewart of Tauranga all won through in the first round, however the weather closed in forcing a suspension of play with Cho only three holes into her second round match, leading 1-up over local Perth player Angie Yang.

It didn't stop Campbell from racing through his second round match, beating 14th seed Brody Ninyette of Western Australia 5 and 4.

In the other match Stewart is 2-down against Chen Yao Hung of Chinese Taipei after nine holes.
