Chiefs midfield back Anton Lienert-Brown has been cited for foul play which resulted in a yellow card during the Super Rugby Pacific final.

Versatile All Blacks back was alleged to have contravened a dangerous tackle law following his collision with Crusaders winger Dallas McLeod early in the match.

McLeod failed a head injury assessment and didn't return to the game.

Television match official Brendon Pickerall assessed the incident during the match, to consider the possibility of escalating Lienert-Brown's punishment to a red card.

Pickerill decided there were mitigating circumstances to keep the punishment as a yellow card, telling referee Ben O'Keeffe that McLeod had been dipping.

However, the Sanzaar citing commissioner deemed the incident had met the Red Card threshold for foul play.

Anton Lienert-Brown - a 56-test All Black - will have his case considered by a foul play review committee on Monday via video-conference.
