A foreign fishing vessel has been fined nearly $US10,000 after it was caught pumping out oil in Suva Harbour.
The Fiji Times reported the incident took place at a ship repair dock in Suva last Saturday.
The Fiji Ports Corporation told the paper the vessel would only be cleared to leave once the fine was paid.
It said investigations revealed those in charge of the vessel had no knowledge of the offence and that it was due to a crew member's negligence.
