Police are investigating a second suspicious vial, which was sent to Parliament this afternoon, following a similar incident in Auckland this morning.
A small bottle of blood-like liquid and a document mentioning Ebola was sent to Parliament's mailroom this afternoon.
The police and Defence Force staff removed the vial shortly after 6pm and it had now been sent to ESR to undergo forensic testing.
The incident mirrored another scare this morning at the New Zealand Herald's Auckland office.
The bottle, in that case, was being sent to a laboratory in Melbourne to be tested for the deadly virus.
Police were investigating any links between the two packages.
Minister of Health Jonathan Coleman stressed there was no evidence New Zealand had a suspected Ebola case.
