Canterbury University to offer new quake course

Canterbury University students who have helped out earthquake-affected people in the region will soon be able to put their service towards passing a new course.

Up to 500 students will be able to take the service-focused university course, called Rebuilding Christchurch, next semester and during summer school.

The course co-ordinator, Billy O'Steen, says the course could contribute points towards their final degree.

He says the students will have weekly readings to encourage them to reflect on how their service relates to the specific disciplines they are studying.
