A young boy attacked by a dog at his Housing New Zealand home is still in hospital more than a week after the mauling.
Shepard Mea, 4, was attacked by a bull mastiff cross in Otahuhu last weekend. He remains in a stable condition in Middlemore Hospital.
The dog that attacked him has since been destroyed.
Housing New Zealand generally has a no-dog policy for its tenants and said it was looking into how the animal came to be there.
The Auckland Council said it was in the final stages of its investigation, which it hoped to wrap up this week, and would make a decision over whether to prosecute after that.
