Twenty-seven secondary school students are in police custody in Tonga after appearing in court yesterday accused of meeting to discuss illegal activity.

Radio Tonga reports Chief Superintendent Tevita Fifita saying the students were arrested last week.

The students are also alleged to have been involved in damaging a police vehicle as officers tried to stop a student brawl.

The students are from Liahona High School, Tupou and Tonga College, 'Apifo'ou College and Takiulau College.
