One person was killed after a vehicle hit a pedestrian on State Highway 3 at Turakina, south of Whanganui.
Police said the crash happened about 11pm, and an investigation was being carried out into what happened.
The scene had been examined by crash investigators this morning, and the road had been reopened.
Person critically injured in Glen Eden crash in Auckland
One person was taken to Auckland City Hospital in a critical condition after a crash on Saturday night.
St John ambulance staff responded to the incident in the suburb of Glen Eden just before 8pm.
