An 11-year-old boy who was out tramping with family had to be flown to hospital after falling down a 9-metre cliff in Te Urewera.
The boy and his family were out tramping in the Te Urewera National Park when he fell.
His family carried him to the nearest house in Ruatahuna before calling for help as there was no cellphone reception where they were tramping.
The Bay Trust Rescue Helicopter airlifted the boy to Rotorua Hospital in a moderate condition.
