A Whangarei bakery manager has been fined for buying unregulated home-killed meat which she had intended to use in goods sold over the counter.
She was fined $1,135.
The woman admitted buying more than 70 kgs of beef fillet and rump steak for $500 from a local homekill operator because it was cheaper than the butcher's.
She said she didn't know it was illegal to buy uninspected home-killed meat for public consumption.
The woman was fined $1,135.
The supplier of the meat was fined $2,250.
