Paramedic winched down to burned pair

05:50 am on 26 December 2012

A paramedic had to be winched down to a camp site in the Abel Tasman National Park on Tuesday night after two people were burned by boiling water when a camp stove was knocked over.

The Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter service said the helicopter was unable to land at Tonga Quarry camp in Tonga Bay because of the nature of the location.

Medical care was administered to a man and his son, who were then winched up and flown to Nelson hospital.
