Police have named the person whose body was found at a property in North Canterbury on Tuesday morning.
He was 55-year-old Christchurch man Chad Puru.
Investigations are continuing after the body was discovered in Dalbeg Road in Balcairn.
Puru's death was being treated as unexplained, and police wanted to hear from anyone with information.
A police spokesperson said they were seeking any sightings of Puru or a white Honda Fit in the wider Christchurch area between 10am New Year's Eve and 10am Tuesday.
