The Northern Marianas governor says he is dismayed by many of the rulings of the NMI District Court following last week's ruling against a gun excise tax.
The Court found the US$1,000 excise tax on guns was unconstitutional.
In a statement by Ralph Torres said following this ruling, his administration would continue to work with the legislature to amend the Special Act for Firearms and Enforcement and explore other legal avenues to ensure the safety of the public.
He said he also had to note the significant provisions of the Act that were upheld, such as the storage requirement that would keep children safe in households with firearms, and the ban on large capacity magazines.
