15:19 pm on 13 April 2006

The former Governor of Western Highlands in Papua New Guinea, Father Robert Lak, has died, apparently of a massive heart attack.

Father Lak was ordained a Diocesan priest for Mount Hagen Diocese in 1981.

He served in the Diocese for several years, became Catholic chaplain at UPNG for many years before standing in the 1997 national elections when he became MP for the Western Highlands.
