Norfolk murder case still open

15:44 pm on 31 March 2003

Australian police are said to be no closer to finding the killer or killers of Sydney woman, Janelle Patton, who was killed on Norfolk Island a year ago.

AAP news agency reports that her father marked the first anniversary of her death with a new appeal for public help in the case.

Tourists discovered the body of the woman who was the employed at a hotel at the Cockpit Waterfall Reserve, on the island's northern side.

It was the first murder on the island in 150 years, and almost eighty percent of the local community volunteered to be fingerprinted as part of the police investigation.

A week ago, Norfolk Island posted a 50-thousand Australian dollar reward in a bid to solve the crime.
