A North Korean cargo ship that's been anchored in American Samoa's Pago Pago harbour for four months has been sold for scrap metal.

The Wise Honest was seized by the US and towed to the territory, apparently for violating UN sanctions against North Korea.

The Coast Guard said the ship had been bought for scrap metal and a tug boat had arrived to tow it away from American Samoa to an unspecified location.
