A woman is in hospital after reports of a gun shot at a Tauranga house.

The incident happened at about 6.20pm on Christopher Street.
A resident told RNZ she initially thought she had heard a firecracker going off.
It was not until her neighbour, who had alerted police in the first place, rang her to tell her that it was a gun shot.
Police are still at the scene and there had been reports of a gunshot.
They said it was too early to say how significant the woman's injuries were.
