Life line for Danny Lee in US PGA

The Rotorua golfer Danny Lee's hopes of retaining his PGA Tour card have been boosted by three strong rounds at the Frys.com Open in California.

Lee is currently tied for 7th at 10 under par after carding rounds of 69, 67 and 67 at the CordeValle Golf Club.

His moving day total pushed Lee up 8 positions after the third round.

The New Zealander is five shots behind the leader, John Mallinger of the United States and one stroke adrift of the Fijian veteran Vijay Singh, whose searching for his first win in four years.

Lee entered the tournament ranked 159th and needs to make the top 125 to guarantee his spot on the circuit next year.
