The Fiji Trades Union Congress says its executives hold board positions under the interim government to make sure workers' money won't be misspent.
The Fiji Teachers Union president has criticised some Trades Union Congress executives for also holding board positions under the interim government, saying there's a conflict of interest.
But the Trades Union Congress president, who's also a National Provident Fund board member, Daniel Urai, says this is not the case.
"There's no conflict. We have publicly stated over time that we disagree with the takeover. However, it was in the interest of workers that we needed to be part of the decision making where workers money would be utilised. It would be of no interest to workers if we sit outside and look at how this money has been used and misused."
Daniel Urai says their acceptance of board positions was decided by the union's national congress.
