Double bombing in Iraq

05:40 am on 6 July 2011

Two bomb explosions have killed more than 30 people at a government building in Iraq that issues identity cards.

The BBC reports the first device exploded in the car park of the municipal office in Taji, 20km north of Baghdad on Tuesday.

After people rushed to the scene, a car bomb was detonated remotely.

The identity-cards office was next to the provincial council building.

Security officials and tribal leaders were in a meeting at the provincial council offices when the bombers struck.
