Officials have removed the latest baby born to Oriwa Kemp, who was jailed in 2009 for the assault and wilful ill-treatment of the murdered Rotorua pre-schooler Nia Glassie.
The 23-year-old was released a few months later because of time spent in custody on remand.
At the time the Parole Board said she no longer posed an undue risk to the community.
Child Youth and Family said the decision to take the child - believed to be the second born to Ms Kemp in the last two years - was not taken lightly but it had very serious concerns for baby.
The agency said Ms Kemp has none of her children in her care.
It said the Family Court order for officials to remove the newborn was supported by the rest of Ms Kemp's family.
Former families commissioner Christine Rankin said Child Youth and Family will be very cautious about Ms Kemp for a very long time, and that's exactly the way it should be.
