It may have been a case of the Grinch that stole Christmas, if it wasn't for Dunedin police.

Officers located a woman at a South Dunedin property on Saturday morning and said in her possession was an inflatable boat and bags of children's toys taken from the address.

Police were called to the house about 7am, Senior Sergeant Ben Butterfield said.

The woman, a 45-year-old Dunedin resident, would appear in court on Friday to face charges related to the burglary, he said.
