A woman rescued from Pakowhai near Hastings says the devastation caused by the flooding there is unbelievable.
On Tuesday, Natalie Morgans and another 11 other Pakowhai residents gathered on a roof while floodwaters rose until they were lapping at the spouting.
Morgans was then taken to the Flaxmere evacuation centre and was welcomed with open arms.
She spoke to reporter on the ground Lauren Crimp.
