RSA beating accused remanded in custody

A man accused of seriously assaulting a World War II veteran outside an RSA in Papatoetoe has been remanded in custody.

Eric Brady, 85, is still in hospital with a broken jaw and serious bruising from the attack on Wednesday night.

The accused, 18, appeared in Manukau District Court on Monday.

He is facing four charges, including aggravated robbery, assault with intent to rob and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The accused's name has been suppressed. He will next appear in court on Friday.
