New joint venture by university and dairy industry

12:39 pm on 25 March 2011

Massey and Lincoln Universities are joining forces with the dairy industry in a new venture to improve the way New Zealand farms are run.

They are launching a Centre of Excellence in farm business management at an International Farm Management Congress in Methven on Friday afternoon.

The centre will focus on areas such as risk management, governance and financial control, people management, entrepreneurship and precision agriculture.

Massey vice-chancellor Steve Maharey says it recognises that farming has become more complex and demanding.

Lincoln University vice-chancellor Roger Field says the centre will draw on the resources of the universities and the dairy industry.
