Demand for unskilled workers is slowing in its third annual Occupation Outlook, the Government says.
Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment Steven Joyce has released the outlook at the University of Auckland.
He said demand for some types of work was growing more rapidly than for others.
Mr Joyce said there was fast growth in job prospects in manufacturing and primary industries but he said demand for unskilled people was growing at a much lower level.
The Occupation Outlook covers job demand, income levels and training needs for 50 career options.
Mr Joyce said it was more important than ever for students to carefully consider their study options.
