Defending champions the Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic have started the new ANZ Championship netball season with an emphatic 69-46 victory over the canterbury Tactix in Nelson.
A Tactix side who have claimed the competition wooden spoon in each of the past three years were not in the same league as the Magic, who had evergreen goal-shooter Irene van Dyk back sinking goals as easily as ever.
40-year-old van Dyk slotted 45 goals from 48 shots.
Earlier the Central Pulse were beaten 49-42 by Adelaide and the Southerh Steel were beaten 68-59 by Queensland.
