Sport: Former Samoa football officials plead not guilty

13:11 pm on 28 June 2019

Two former officials at Football Federation Samoa have entered not guilty pleas to theft charges against them.

Former federation president Reverend Laupama Solomona and the former chief executive Faumuina Michael Kapisi each face one count of theft as a servant and one charge of theft by a person in a special relationship.

They pleaded not guilty through their lawyers this week.

The Samoa Observer reported the charges relate to a vehicle belonging to the federation.

Earlier this year, the federation had a change of office bearers who introduced new personnel as an interim measure while police investigated the alleged impropriety involving former management.

Formal charges were brought against the men in May.

Justice Leiataualesa Daryl Clarke adjourned the matter for hearing on the week of 25 November and the two defendants were remanded on bail.
