Two fragments of the famed Pink and White Terraces will go up for auction on Thursday.
Auckland's International Art Centre says it is thought a local 15-year-old, Ina Haszard, collected the small pieces of rock before the terraces were destroyed by the Mount Tarawera eruption in 1886.
A painting by Ms Haszard is included in the auction, which also includes 12 photographs of the terraces.
The centre's director, Richard Thomson, says the set has never been offered for sale and could fetch up to $30,000.
