$70 million given to growers 'won't touch the sides'

Hawke's Bay growers are relieved the government is putting $172 million into cleaning up silt and debris from Cyclone Gabrielle.

$102 million will go towards clearing up residential properties, council land for renewed public access, and whenua Māori.

A further $70 million will go to commercial properties, including farmers and growers.

President of the Hawke's Bay Fruitgrowers' Association Brydon Nisbet says although help is obviously welcome, it won't touch the sides.
