There was one new case reported yesterday - a man in his 40s who arrived in the country on 12 July from Africa - and no cases reported on Wednesday or Thursday. There have been just three new cases, all in managed isolation, since Monday.

In a statment, the Health Ministry said it had now been 85 days since the last case of Covid-19 that was acquired locally from an unknown source.

The total number of confirmed cases in New Zealand remains at 1206.

The Ministry said New Zealand's laboratories completed 2307 tests yesterday.

"Testing remains an important part of our overall strategy to detect any community cases of Covid-19 as quickly as possible.

"We all have a part to play and we're encouraging anyone who is offered a swab, to take up that offer."
