The head of New Zealand football says Ricki Herbert will leave a strong legacy as he steps down as the All Whites coach after more than eight years.
Herbert's contract expires at the end of the current World Cup campaign, which is likely to finish on Wednesday if they fail to overturn a 5-1 deficit against Mexico.
Mexico have all but assured themselves a place in Brazil 2014 year on the back of their win in Mexico City last week.
He stepped down this year as coach of the Wellington Phoenix during their dismal season.
